How Does a Poly Tank Gas Scrubber Work?
Poly tank gas or vent scrubbers are purpose-built to remove harmful pollutants like hydrochloric acid (HCL) from exhaust streams. A liquid in a polyethylene tank is used to neutralize and absorb fumes from a chemical storage tank or process. The scrubber is mainly used where an 80% to 90% removal efficiency is adequate.
This type of scrubber houses a scrubbing liquid, like water, but it’s not sprayed. The tank is filled with water and gets replaced after it reaches its saturation limit. Unlike other wet scrubber systems, the poly tank gas scrubber does not include packing media, a liquid distribution system or a mist eliminator. It also does not need a pump or blower to operate. Poly tank gas scrubbers are relatively cheaper compared to a water-only packed scrubber.
