Maspac
Originally developed by Dow Chemical, Maspac is a unique variety of random tower packing suitable for heavy liquid and gas flows. This high-performance material offers an extra-large surface area that delivers lower pressure drops, low weight and high contacting efficiency.
Taking the Dow product as the base of our design, MACH Engineering Maspac is available in multiple sizes and materials. Our product offers excellent quality and a low price, making it an economical option for a range of applications.
Product Details
MACH Engineering Maspac features a shape similar to a cowboy hat, with a large perforated saddle and a cylinder emerging from the center. Each side features an additional cylindrical finger pointing downward. This design maximizes surface area while minimizing space.
MASPACWe sell Maspac tower packing in 2″, 3 1/2″ and 4″ sizes, in the following materials:
- PP (polypropylene)
- PE (polyethylene)
- PVC (polyvinyl chloride)
- CPVC (Corzan®)
- PVDF (Kynar®)
- PFA (Teflon®)
Nominal Size (IN) | 2 (50 mm) | 3 1/2 (90 mm) | 4 (102 mm) |

Our clients primarily use Maspac for low-temperature applications, though certain materials such as PVDF are suitable for temperatures up to 150°C. For detailed specifications and more information about the different size and material options we sell, please call or email us.
Benefits and Applications
Maspac’s main benefits include:
- Excellent performance: Maspac’s unique shape – perforated saddle with fingers emerging above and below – provides high flooding and minimizes pressure drop while retaining a large surface area to maximize gas-liquid contact.
- Low weight: Our PP Maspac random packing weighs between 3.2 and 4.4 lbs/ft3, based on the size. Considerably lighter than a ceramic or metal alternative, Maspac is suitable for use in towers that can’t support the added weight of an alternate material.
- Easy cleaning and installation: Maspac is strong and lightweight, making it easy to install without risking damage to the tower. It’s also convenient for cleaning, reducing downtime when maintenance is required.
Principal applications for Maspac tower packing include volatile gas stripping, water degasifying and scrubbing atmospheric pollutants from waste gases. Maspac also excels at water redistribution.
